A Pure day with Chanelle Sladics

This week I had the opportunity to hang out with my friend Chanelle Sladics. In case you haven’t heard of this extraordinary woman, she is a mind-blowing professional snowboarder, skater and surfer. She is an accomplished athlete most certainly, and Chanelle lives the Pure lifestyle by growing her own organic produce, eating unprocessed foods, composting and loving life in the great outdoors.

Chanelle and I align on so many beliefs and it was such a privilege to spend the day in her organic garden, make lunch together and even watch her and Maurius show their stuff on the skate ramp.

Being from Michigan I am so jealous of the Southern California climate. In her yard Chanelle has grapefruit, orange, nectarine, lemon, and avocado trees. What more do you need??

Say goodbye to processed food. We also picked beets from her garden, cucumbers and carrots. We made a luscious salad with the beet greens, shredded beets, shredded cucumber, shredded carrot and some lemon. It was fantastic and made me think once again, why would you eat any other way?

Chanelle and I also spoke about our common concern for kids in our school lunch programs. She has a passion for teaching our local schools how to feed our children healthy whole food without breaking the budget. Foods as simple as beans and rice with a fresh local salad are inexpensive, flavorful and healthy. It is so important to instill those positive habits early in our children.Imperative to America’s future when one thinks of growing the next generation of leaders and our over-burdened health care system.

Chanelle is an amazing role model to our kids and actually to grownups too! She is living her dream, pursuing her passion, respecting and maintaining her body through exercise, and eating organic, whole, real food. She is doing her part to care for the earth by composting and consuming from her garden.Chanelle inspires me to be a better person.
