The only thing better than being able to dress up and go out for a night in New York, is to dress up and go out in New York to raise money for an amazing cause. I was thrilled to be a part of the Lunchbox Fund Book Fair at the Peidmonte Room, Del Posto, March 21.
Topaz Page Green, who organized this event is the founder of The Lunchbox Fund. This remarkable organization provides a daily school lunch to children in impoverished regions of South Africa. Because many children are hungry, a lunch motivates them to come to school and learn which is the best hope to break the cycle of devastation in their lives. This creates stronger communities and a stronger world.
Pure Bar has been a proud supporter of The Lunchbox Fund for almost two years. We donated over 40,000 lunches last year and will donate even more this year. Having spent time in Africa with my grandparents who were missionaries, this opportunity touches my heart and hits close to home. It is always a blessing to come together with friends to help support a extraordinary cause.
The Spring Book Fair featured homemade celebrity publications that were auctioned off. There were creations from Yoko Ono, Desmond Tutu, Chuck Close, Mario Batali and more. It was also a star studded event with celebrities like Michael Stipe, Alan Cummings, Salman Rushdie, Rain Phoenix, Helena Christensen, and Courtney Love in attendance.
The best news of all though was that the Book Fair Event raised over $200,000 for The Lunchbox Fund and that’s a lot of lunches! I want to thank everyone who donated to this event and supported it, and especially to the Pure Bar customers who support our promotions and help us donate thousands of lunches to children who need them every year.
Pure bar is very proud to announce our partnership and support of The Lunchbox Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a daily meal for extremely poor and at risk school children.
As a company inspired by the convictions of a child, we believe strongly in the potential of the world’s children to create a solid future for our planet and want to do our part to nourish them, body and mind. Help us feed thousands of school children in South Africa, where over 35% of the population is devastated by AIDS and poverty.
Over 450 yogis including Swami Kriyananda, Shiva Rea, Vinnie Marino, Sara Ivanhoe, Larry Payne, Gary Kraftsow and Saul David Raye attended the TITANS OF YOGA movie premiere and Yoga Month kick-off event Sept. 1 where Pure was able to satisfy the soul with our healthy treats.
Pure Bars were all over Huntington Beach Pier, Surf City USA for Save Our Surf . We fueled magnificent surfers all weekend long as they paddled, surfed, swam, and became one with the ocean for charity. We also sampled our amazing organic fruit and nut Pure bars to over 3,000 innocent bystanders who choose to come out for the music, events and scenery (oh was there ever scenery) all weekend long!!
Thanks to all our Pure Bar friends who joined the masses to Save our Beautiful Surf this past weekend. We love our fans and we love our beautiful surf!
The Pure Team was at The 30th Annual Sunset Junction Street Fair to celebrate diversity and harmony, hear the latest up and coming musicians, and of course give away lots of scrumptious Pure Bars.
If you missed it this year, be sure to check it out in August 2011.
The Pure Team headed out to the Abbot Kinney Festival on Sunday, September 26th, 2010.
The festival features handcrafted local items as well as live music, food trucks and activites for kids. Pure was lucky to be a part of Whole Foods Market’s Green Scence showcasing vendors whose eco-friendly products are sold at Whole Foods Market. We were with the likes of Lifeway Kefir, popchips, Nika Water and TOMS Shoes.
We got muddy in the great outdoors with the LA Eco Mud Run in August.
If you have never seen a mud run they are so fun to watch and even more fun to slosh around in, but don’t worry, we made sure to keep the Pure Bars nice and clean for anyone who wanted to sample free, organic yumminess to energize them while they ran, climbed and rolled in the mud.
