The only thing better than being able to dress up and go out for a night in New York, is to dress up and go out in New York to raise money for an amazing cause. I was thrilled to be a part of the Lunchbox Fund Book Fair at the Peidmonte Room, Del Posto, March 21.
Topaz Page Green, who organized this event is the founder of The Lunchbox Fund. This remarkable organization provides a daily school lunch to children in impoverished regions of South Africa. Because many children are hungry, a lunch motivates them to come to school and learn which is the best hope to break the cycle of devastation in their lives. This creates stronger communities and a stronger world.
Pure Bar has been a proud supporter of The Lunchbox Fund for almost two years. We donated over 40,000 lunches last year and will donate even more this year. Having spent time in Africa with my grandparents who were missionaries, this opportunity touches my heart and hits close to home. It is always a blessing to come together with friends to help support a extraordinary cause.
The Spring Book Fair featured homemade celebrity publications that were auctioned off. There were creations from Yoko Ono, Desmond Tutu, Chuck Close, Mario Batali and more. It was also a star studded event with celebrities like Michael Stipe, Alan Cummings, Salman Rushdie, Rain Phoenix, Helena Christensen, and Courtney Love in attendance.
The best news of all though was that the Book Fair Event raised over $200,000 for The Lunchbox Fund and that’s a lot of lunches! I want to thank everyone who donated to this event and supported it, and especially to the Pure Bar customers who support our promotions and help us donate thousands of lunches to children who need them every year.
Watch Pure Bar Founder, Veronica Bosgraaf, tell her inspirational story about the bars that started it all.
NEW YORK, NY (March 6, 2012) — The Lunchbox Fund (www.thelunchboxfund.org), a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a daily meal for impoverished and at-risk students in South African township high schools, announced today that it will host a preview of the unique, one-of-a-kind books, prints and book objects, hand created by a collection of artists, celebrities and newsmakers at Pace Prints from March 6th-10th. The books are scheduled to be auctioned off at a Lunchbox Fund event on March 21st at Del Posto Ristorante in New York City. I wanted to share this wonderful video clip from a few of the many children you have helped us provide lunches for in South Africa.
Together with your support of our Facebook “Like for a Lunch” program in June and our “Buy a Box Give a Lunch” program in May, we have already provided over 40,000 lunches to The Lunchbox Fund! Thank you so much!
Look for more promotions this fall as we work together with our customers and The Lunchbox Fund to help create a world in which no child goes hungry.

On May 17, 2011 Pure Bar was honored to be a part of “A Spring Evening”, The Lunchbox Fund’s annual fundraiser. This year’s event took place at Donna Karan’s Urban Zen Center in New York City, and was a joint event between The Lunchbox Fund, and their new partner, The Ubuntu Education Fund. The event was a huge success, raising over $70,000 for impoverished South African school children. It was a magical evening, punctuated with stellar performances that included musicians such as The Gift Horse Project with Karen Elson, Zac Hanson, Rain Phoenix and the legendary The Roots, as well as a sold out raffle benefitting the charities.
As one of the event’s sponsors, we were so pleased to share our passion to better the world, as well as our Pure Bars with the over 400 attendees, including notable guests Donna Karan, Salman Rushdie, Spike Jonze, Michael Stipe, Estelle, Ty Pennington, and more. But for us at Pure Bar, the most inspiring part of the evening was seeing people from all walks of life come together to help put an end to childhood hunger. We couldn’t’ think of a better way to spend a spring evening!
